Class will start on Sunday September 23rd with instruction of Corel Painter 12. I will show you the basics of the software program and some of the secrets of Painter 12. Just announced my next workshop for November 12th & 13th.
I'm so happy with the progress that my students have made with their painting skills.
Here is what my former students say about the workshop "Pat, I can't thank you enough for all the research and study you had to do to offer the Painter 12 course. Many of the things you covered are not found in books or videos but are essential in obtaining a true command and understanding of the depth of the program. You have truly demystified brushes and Painter's layers for me and I now feel so much more confident and natural when I digitally paint. Thank you so very much! I look forward to sharpening my skills in the next session." Bonnie
What do cupcakes, champagne, paint brushes and canvas have in common ? It was all part of a wonderful afternoon in SOWA with Acrylic Artist Fernando DeOliveira. Fresh strawberries, bubbly, and lots of beautiful art surrounded us in the studio where Fernando works his magic. 5 of my "student" artists from "Painting in the Digital Age" Workshop joined me in Boston. A wonderful demonstration, dinner, and then back to SOWA for an evening soaking up inspiration from numerous artists throught the district. It was a great day for all of us. Thanks Fernando for being a great host and generous artist. Visit his website at: www.fernandodeoliveira.com
Our "Painting Parties" have been so much fun. The artists are progressing all with different subjects and styles of painting. It is rewarding to see them "blossom" into painters. Next Tuesday is our final "Party" in this workshop. But don't fret. Our work has just begun and we will continue. The next workshop is June 11th & 12th. We still have seats available. Call or email Pat ASAP. The last workshop filled in just a few weeks.
I'm working on a series of "Blue & White" paintings. The first two are on the "Art Images and Illustrations page.
Lately, I've tried experimenting with different papers and textures. Gradient paper is interesting and I worked with different colors until I decided that blue was a natural choice for soft white flowers. Inspired by the soft translucent petals of spring daffodills, I started painting petals smaller and more "cup" shape. I like the curves and the hint of yellow in the middle gave the flowers just enough color.
The first painting is "Untitled" --- Maybe you can suggest a title ???
The second painting is titled "Lean on me." Tulips are always a "welcome" in spring.
Going to start the 3rd painting in a few days. I'm thinking Lilies . . . . maybe ???
Thank you to all the artists who sent me notes about the workshop. I'll share some of the comments.
B. Z. wrote "Thanks so much for helping me get started with Painter and removing the "Crazies." I still have a long way to go, but feel I have the general gist of it. My mind is now constantly preoccupied with my next Painter project and how I will execute it. . . . Thank you so much for your kindness and patience as a teacher. I love your one to one approach which is extremely helpful to me."
P. A. wrote " Spending a wonderful day painting sounds perfect! I'm ready to go and really excited! After training with ________, this will take me even further. I love the work you do and am looking forward to learning how you "see" and how you take a print to a painting.. . . . . you do those so amazingly well!"
C.N. wrote " I know that you are an excellent instructor . . .definitely plan some more workshops over the course of this year."
The artists at the workshop were amazing. What a diverse group. Fine Art Artists, Photographers, Master Crafter, Graphic Artists and traditional Painters all joined in the workshop. Tuesday evenings we will have our "Paint Parties." I'm very impressed with the quality of their work. Each artist is developing their own style. Imagesshould be posted by the end of the week.
